The new Ontario Premier was appoint the position of Premier of Ontario rather then voted into power. She is the first Ontario Premier that is a Female that brings up questions for voters, but the secret that people all know that could be viewed as a factor in this system is that she is a lesbian. This brings up the questions on how she will use her powers in regards to topics such as equal and fair rights.

I personally believe that the sexual orientation of a Premier should have no effect on the way people will vote. But when you get right down to it, depending on how strong she feels about herself and her sexuality, there could be a strong fight ahead of her to push forwards equal rights and pay for women. As well as new bills and orders that remove current legislations that are preventing Women, and in particular gay couples and singles from being granted the same laws, rights and advantages that a strait Couple or single would have. So in actual fact, her sexuality and gender can be preserved as a positive note for the current Canadian Political system. As we move deeper into the idea of similar rights for everyone and all genders, we are going to need more people with strong beliefs to fight for these bills and orders. This is just a first step.
